  • The Survivor Hatch!

We got Pekin eggs from Spruce Valley Homestead and put the Pekin eggs in the incubator and shortly after, we had to evacuate Fort Nelson… we figured that was a lost cause for the eggs. My husband is a fire fighter, so between fighting the fire, he was putting water on the eggs a couple times a week. When we came back 3 weeks later, we candled the eggs and were surprised that they looked ok. So we put them in lockdown. Then our power went out in lock down, so we hooked it up to a generator… power went back on for the last couple days of the lockdown. We have 11 hatched ducks so far We are calling them the survivor hatch!

  • Happy and Healthy!

I had an eggcellent hatch rate with my pekin eggs that were shipped by mail. They arrived quickly and it perfect shape. I highly recommend Spruce Vally Homestead! The ducklings are a week and a half old now and they are healthy and happy. I will be ordering again next year!

  • First time Owner

As a first time duck owner, I was so happy to have met Nikki at a local poultry swap! Not only did she give me some great tips when I first purchased some ducklings from her but throughout raising them! She's been kind and generous with her time when I had questions going through the various seasons and stages. I would recommend Nikki's ducks to anyone looking to add to their flock or as a new flock owner!

A sub tropical family that is actually descended from wood ducks and they like to perch in trees! (or 2x4's on flat, or arms, or shoulders......) They also do not quack but hiss and chirp so are very quiet!

  • Welsh Harlequin

The absolute water babies of the homestead, with a motto of all water all the time. Drinking it, swimming in it, swimming in the drinking water, you name it, they love it. Gorgeous to look at and hilarious when they get the water zoomies, they are some of the most friendly ones, though they'd sell us for a bag of peas.......

  • Calls

The epitome of tiny but mighty! In the homestead's version of Honey, I shrunk the ducks, these little spitfires are definitely the alarm force in the pens with their vocals sometimes much louder than our full size ducks. These tiny powerhouses are as adorable and as mischevious as they sound and can fly VERY well so netting over a run is reccommended.
